Blue star creepers

I love the week that the blue star creepers are in full bloom on the flagstone patio just at the bottom of my front steps. And that seems to be this week. They just look so friendly!

I just got home from a week in Pensacola visiting Mom and Brenda and Dad and Joan. I'll be back there in just three weeks for mom's knee surgery. Lovely to see the ocean (and only a quick hour flight away).

A quick review of the yard this morning revealed that the five chickadees have fledged - only the mossy nest remained in the birdhouse. So I cleaned that out and it's all ready for the next occupant.

The owl is still poking her head out of the front door of her home. Here is a very bad picture -- you can just see the sunlight glinting off the top of her head in the middle of the picture.

I have no idea if she has babies in there -- there was some hooting going on when I got home at 10pm last night. Was it "baby talk"?
I'm getting close to the date of the big neighborhood yard sale extravaganza. I volunteered to head it up this year and we now have 30 families - each having a yard sale on May 16 and 17. I hope we have good weather and that someone shows up to buy our junque!
Steve is still in Hong Kong. I am suffering withdrawal from not being able to talk to him every week. He has been gone since 23April and finally returns 9May. I missed a call from him, but the voicemail he left made it sound like he is having a great time - working hard, eating lots of good food, watched the Olympic Torch run through Hong Kong, and was just leaving for a run along Repulse Bay. So cosmopolitan and worldly!

What a lovely design those little flowers make around the paving.

Warm wishes from Western Australia!
